Unsane is a 2018 psychological thriller film that is directed by Steven Soderbergh. The movie traces the life of Sawyer Valentini, a young woman who is unwillingly placed in a mental hospital after consulting a therapist because of some trauma. In her house, she has a feeling that one of the employees is her stalker and she is forced to face the fear, gaslighting, and institutional abuse.
The entire film is shot on an iPhone, which adds a claustrophobic and intense feeling to the film, and it explores the themes of paranoia, control, and the thin line between sanity and madness. Its minimalism style makes it more realistic and provides unbreakable psychological suspense throughout the entire runtime.
