Red Sonja (2025) is a sword-and-sorcery action film rebooted by director M.J. Bassett and written by Tasha Huo. The story follows barbarian huntress Sonja (Matilda Lutz), captured by the tyrannical Dragan and forced into gladiatorial combat.
As she battles through blood-soaked arenas, Sonja forges unlikely alliances and leads a rebellion to overthrow her oppressors. The film premiered in Russia on July 31, had a U.S. theatrical release on August 13, and quickly moved to digital platforms by late August.
